Arizona State rises in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings

Arizona State’s football team has climbed to No. 16 in the College Football Playoff rankings, marking a significant jump from last week’s No. 21 spot. The Sun Devils are the highest-ranked Big 12 team, alongside four other conference squads in the CFP rankings. After defeating BYU, Arizona State also secured the No. 14 spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll. The team is currently projected to face Ohio State in the national championship quarterfinal matchup as the No. 12 seed.

Undefeated Oregon leads the rankings as the No. 1 seed, with Ohio State, Texas, Penn State, and Notre Dame rounding out the top five. Boise State was ranked 11th by the committee and secured the fourth and final bye for conference leaders. Arizona State will face the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, with a win possibly securing their spot in the Big 12 Championship Game.

This season also marks the debut of the 12-team playoff bracket, with an expanded format from the previous four-team setup. The top five conference champions and the seven next highest-ranked teams will compete in the tournament. The bracket will be unveiled on Dec. 8, with the first round scheduled for Dec. 20-21. Fans can catch the Arizona State vs. Arizona game on various platforms, including radio and TV broadcasts.
