Justin Jones forced to leave Cardinals-Lions game due to triceps injury

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Justin Jones suffered a triceps injury during the team’s 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions, forcing him to leave the game and not return. Jones, a veteran who recently signed a three-year deal with the Cardinals, had recorded one tackle before the injury, bringing his total tackles for the year to four. Additionally, Khyiris Tonga, another defensive lineman, sustained a knee injury that left him questionable to return. Tonga had four tackles in the game, showcasing a breakout performance after entering with just one tackle for the season.

On the offensive side, right tackle Jackson Barton, in his first career start, also went down with an injury. This left the Cardinals even more shorthanded at the position, with fourth-string Charlie Heck stepping in to fill the gap. With injuries affecting two defensive linemen, Dante Stills stepped up and contributed alongside Bilal Nichols and Roy Lopez. Stills, who had been limited in practice due to a shoulder injury, did not play in the previous game but made an impact in the Lions matchup with a sack, tackle for loss, and QB hit.

This game highlighted the Cardinals’ depth on both sides of the ball, as players stepped up to fill in for injured teammates and make significant contributions. The team will need to continue to rely on their depth as they navigate through the remainder of the season.
