Ice Castles, the complex of frozen walls, arches, tunnels, and slides, is returning for a second winter in Cripple Creek, located in the hills west of Colorado Springs. The Ice Castles are created by artisans who work tirelessly to grow, harvest, and place up to 10,000 icicles each day, with water serving as glue to stack and soar up to 20 feet. The ice structures are embedded with multicolored LED lights, making for a mesmerizing experience for visitors as they walk through tunnels, fountains, slides, and cascading towers of light.
The Ice Castles made their debut in Cripple Creek last winter, attracting over 100,000 visitors and providing a boost in winter tourism to the historic town. The attraction is set to open later this month, depending on weather conditions. Advance tickets will go on sale soon, with ticket prices ranging from $16 to $27 for adults and $16-$22 for children aged 4-11.
Ice Castles have also announced a return to Colorado’s Interstate 70 corridor this winter, with a second location set to be in Eagle. The intricate and stunning ice structures have become a beloved winter attraction in Colorado Springs and are set to provide visitors with a magical experience in the icy wonderland of Cripple Creek once again.
