Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actor Akshay Kumar, and Rajkummar Rao were among the early voters in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. Tendulkar, along with his family, emphasized the importance of voting, urging people to exercise their fundamental right. Similarly, Kumar praised the arrangements at the polling booth and encouraged everyone to cast their votes. Other celebrities such as Kartik Aaryan, Tina Dutta, Urmila Matondkar, Sonu Sood, Riteish Deshmukh, and Genelia D’Souza also cast their votes and urged citizens to fulfill their duty.
Musician Vishal Dadlani and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt appealed to the public to come out and vote, stressing the significance of participating in the democratic process. A total of 4,136 candidates, including 2,086 independents, are contesting in the elections across 288 assembly constituencies.
Various celebrities including film directors Subhash Ghai, Kabir Khan, and Zoya Akhtar, actors Ali Fazal, Sunil Shetty, and John Abraham, and filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar also exercised their right to vote. Voting for the single-phase elections started at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. The high-profile participation of these celebrities highlights the importance of civic engagement and democratic participation in the electoral process.
