In a highly anticipated matchup between AFC contenders, the Buffalo Bills ended the Kansas City Chiefs’ bid at an undefeated season with a 30-21 victory. Bills quarterback Josh Allen led a crucial late-game scoring drive to secure the win, while the Bills’ offense dominated against the Chiefs’ strong defense, breaking their streak of not allowing 30 points since the Super Bowl. Allen threw for 262 yards and also led the Bills in rushing, helping the team control the ball for over 34 minutes. The Bills also excelled on third downs, converting nine of 15 compared to Kansas City’s five of 10. Mahomes struggled by his standards, throwing an interception on his first pass and failing to lead a successful drive in the second half.
While the Bills are now in a strong position to secure first place in the AFC, their history against the Chiefs in the postseason suggests that it won’t be an easy task. Kansas City has beaten Buffalo in three straight playoff matchups, including at the Bills’ home stadium in January. The loss drops the Chiefs to 9-1 and improves the Bills to 9-2, placing them just half a game out of first place in the conference. Buffalo will have a bye week next before their next game, while the Chiefs will face the Carolina Panthers.
