Sundance Head, ‘The Voice’ champion, injured by stray bullet on Texas ranch

Country singer Sundance Head, who won Season 11 of ‘The Voice,’ was injured by a stray bullet at his ranch in Texas. The 46-year-old singer was taken to a hospital in Tyler where he was stabilized after the bullet lodged in a fatty area of his stomach. His agent, Trey Newman, mentioned that no surgery was scheduled and they were awaiting further details on the accident.

Sundance’s wife, Misty, confirmed on Facebook that surgery would not be necessary as the bullet missed all vital organs and was lodged in his abdominal wall. She requested prayers for her husband. Newman stated that the stray bullet likely came from a nearby hunter’s shot and was not self-inflicted. The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has yet to provide more information on the incident.

Sundance Head, who was coached by Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice,’ won the competition in 2016. He released his fourth album in 2022 and returned to the show for Shelton’s send-off last year. Despite his father, Roy Head, being a noted musician, Sundance didn’t pursue music until he was 33 and had previously been unsuccessful on ‘American Idol.’ His journey to success was documented by NBC, which is the network that airs ‘The Voice.’
