Northern Arizona Women’s Basketball Team Set to Face Pacific in California
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Nov. 16, 2024) – The Northern Arizona University (NAU) women’s basketball team is gearing up for an exciting matchup against the University of the Pacific on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m. MST in Stockton, California. The Lumberjacks, now with a record of 2-1 for the first time since the 2020-21 season, look to build on their momentum after a dominant 101-68 victory against Fort Lewis in their home opener.
The Tigers from the West Coast Conference (WCC) enter the contest with a 2-1 record, with their latest victory being an 81-65 win over Long Beach State. Last season, NAU faced Pacific in Flagstaff and secured a convincing 96-65 win. The Lumberjacks are aiming for their fifth consecutive win against WCC opponents, having gone 4-0 against the conference last season.
Northern Arizona’s offense has proven formidable, averaging 84.0 points per game and making 10.0 three-pointers per game. Leading the team is Sophie Glancey, the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, who averages 15.0 points and 9.3 rebounds. Teammate Nyah Moran has also been key, scoring 18 points in consecutive games.
Pacific’s standout players include Elizabeth Elliott, who averages 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, and Anaya James, who contributes significantly with 10.7 points and 6.7 assists per game. The Tigers have shown efficiency in shooting, hitting 46.1% from the field and forcing an average of 22 turnovers per game.
After the matchup with Pacific, Northern Arizona will return to Flagstaff to host Arizona on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. MST, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
