TUCSON, AZ – Arizona Wildcats’ head coach Tommy Lloyd expressed his frustration after the Wildcats suffered a disappointing 103-88 defeat to the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday night, marking their fourth upset in the early 2024-25 NCAA basketball season.
In a post-game briefing, Lloyd pinpointed his team’s critical issues, particularly their inability to manage fouls effectively. “They were in the bonus the whole game,” he lamented, noting that Arizona committed an alarming 32 fouls, leading to 47 free-throw attempts for Wisconsin, where they converted 41. The foul trouble significantly impacted the game strategy, with eight players accumulating three or more fouls and key players including Caleb Love and Tobe Awaka fouling out.
Lloyd emphasized the need for smarter play and better discipline from his team, stating, "We didn’t have the discipline… Our guards dove into their chest." He acknowledged the challenge of adjusting to the officiating style but urged his players to adapt more quickly, especially when on the road.
