In a highly anticipated boxing match, Jake Paul emerged victorious against Mike Tyson, winning by a unanimous decision. The fight, held at the Dallas Cowboys stadium, saw Paul paying homage to Tyson with a bow before the final bell. Despite Tyson’s initial aggression, Paul took a more aggressive stance but both fighters struggled with accuracy and efficiency in their punches. The match was dominated by Paul on the judge’s cards, with one scoring it 80-72 and the other two at 79-73 in favor of Paul.
Tyson, who had not fought professionally since 2005, faced criticism for his lack of action in the ring, while Paul, a relatively new boxer, showed promise for a career in the sport. The fight was originally scheduled for July but had to be postponed due to Tyson’s health issues.
However, the event was not without its setbacks as Netflix, which was streaming the fight for its global audience of 280 million subscribers, experienced streaming problems. Viewers took to social media to express frustration over buffering and outages before and during the fight. Despite the issues, Netflix representatives had no comment on the streaming problems experienced by viewers.
The bout, which was Netflix’s largest live sports event to date, was seen as a test for the streaming platform’s ability to handle audience demand, with future events like NFL games and WWE broadcasts on the horizon.
Netflix is set to broadcast two NFL games on Christmas Day and begin streaming WWE “Raw” on Jan. 6, further solidifying its foray into live sports broadcasting.
