Arizona’s victory over Houston keeps their bowl aspirations alive in football

Arizona Wildcats Defeat Houston Cougars 27-3 to End Losing Streak

In a much-needed victory, the Arizona Wildcats ended a five-game losing streak with a 27-3 win over the Houston Cougars on Friday night in Tucson. Quarterback Noah Fifita threw for two touchdowns, connecting with Tetairoa McMillan and Quali Conley, who also scored on a 50-yard run.

The Wildcats took control early in the game, with Houston unable to sustain momentum from previous wins. Despite moving the ball well in the first half, the Cougars struggled with turnovers, losing two fumbles, throwing an interception, and turning the ball over on downs four times.

Houston’s only points came from a 49-yard field goal by Jack Martin, while Arizona capitalized on opportunities, including a school-record 62-yard field goal by Tyler Loop. The Wildcats pulled away in the second half, with Conley’s second touchdown and Loop’s 51-yard field goal extending the lead.

Fifita led the Wildcats with 224 passing yards, and the defense showed improvement with better tackling than in previous games. Houston failed to capitalize on early offensive success, allowing Arizona to dominate the third quarter with a 17-0 scoring run.

The victory was a much-needed morale boost for Arizona, who will face TCU next Saturday. The Wildcats showed resilience and determination in bouncing back from a tough stretch of losses and proving their ability to compete in the Big 12 conference.
