Desperate Texas influencer seeks help to reunite with monkey lost in drunk driving crash

A monkey named Jorgie Boy belonging to a Dallas-area influencer, Brandi Botello, was taken from her by police after a single-vehicle accident where the driver was charged with driving while intoxicated. Botello claimed she was not driving at the time of the crash but was charged with DWI. The monkey was found to have a disease caused by malnutrition and was transferred to Irving’s animal control department for care in an undisclosed wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary reported that Jorgie Boy was severely underweight and had bone fractures, elevated liver, and pancreatic levels. The monkey will not be returned to Botello. It is legal in Texas to own exotic animals with permits, but Irving prohibits ownership of wild animals. Botello has been campaigning for the return of Jorgie Boy on Instagram, where she has a significant following. The monkey also has his own Instagram account with thousands of followers. This incident follows the seizure and euthanization of Peanut, an Instagram-famous squirrel, due to illegal possession of wild animals by its owner. Jorgie Boy’s future remains uncertain, but he is receiving care at a sanctuary in Texas.
