NAU Women’s Tennis Gears Up for Wildcat Invite
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 14, 2024) — The Northern Arizona University (NAU) women’s tennis team is set to compete in the upcoming Wildcat Invite, taking place from November 15 to 17 at the University of Arizona in Tucson. This tournament marks the team’s final fall competition of the season, with all six Lumberjack players participating in both singles and doubles matches.
The doubles teams for NAU include Patrycja Niewiadomska and Laura Duhl, Andrea Noguera with Leontina Stojanovic, and Daryna Shoshyna partnering with Elen Jantacova. Notably, this will be Noguera’s first doubles competition of the season after not participating in earlier tournaments such as the Lumberjack Classic and the ITA Regional Championships.
Shoshyna and Jantacova are coming off a strong performance from the ITA Regionals, where they reached the quarterfinals after defeating the tournament’s No. 9 seed team. Shoshyna also demonstrated her determination at the Regionals by securing three consecutive victories following an initial loss in the main draw.
Niewiadomska and Jantacova had mixed results in previous tournaments, with Jantacova achieving a convincing win in the consolation bracket at the ITA Regionals, defeating Hanna Vinahradava with a 6-0, 6-2 scoreline.
The Lumberjacks are looking to build on their recent efforts and close out the fall season on a high note. Fans interested in following the team’s progress can stay connected via their social media channels on X, Instagram, and Facebook. The Wildcat Invite promises to showcase the talent and perseverance of NAU women’s tennis as they compete against other collegiate athletes in Tucson.
