Arizona Continues to be a Popular Choice for Americans Moving, According to Census Data – The Center Square

Arizona has been confirmed as a top destination for Americans moving, according to new estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. The state ranked fifth for net domestic migration last year, gaining over 62,500 residents. These new residents had an average income that was 16.9% higher than those who left the state, according to an analysis by the Common Sense Institute Arizona.

Senior Economist and Research Analyst Zachary Milne stated that Arizona’s competitive edge as a destination for movers is attracting high-income earners and fostering faster economic growth. The data shows a correlation between state policies, economic opportunity, and migration patterns, positioning Arizona on a sustained growth trajectory.

California residents made up 20% of those who moved to Arizona, with the Golden State losing hundreds of thousands of residents in recent years. The state’s low or nonexistent income tax is a common trait among the top states attracting movers, with Florida and Texas ranking first and second for net domestic migration, respectively.

Arizona’s rapid growth is evident as businesses and individuals continue to move to the state. Arizona’s appeal as a destination for high-income earners and its economic opportunities are contributing to its status as one of the fastest-growing states in the country.
