Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung, known for her role in “Minari,” has joined Season 2 of the Netflix series “Beef” alongside Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny. The second season will consist of eight episodes and follows a young couple who witness a disturbing altercation between their boss and his wife at a country club owned by a Korean billionaire, leading to a game of favors and coercion in the elitist world. Youn’s career spans over five decades and includes credits in Apple TV+’s “Pachinko.”
“Beef” was originally a limited series starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong that garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards, including eight Emmys, four Critics Choice Awards, three Golden Globes, and two SAG Awards. The series follows Danny Cho and Amy Lau, two strangers in Los Angeles whose lives become intertwined after a road rage incident. Lee Sung Jin is the creator and showrunner of “Beef,” with Jake Schreier, Yeun, and Wong serving as executive producers for Season 2.
Youn’s addition to the cast of “Beef” comes after her historic Oscar win as the first Korean to win an acting award. She joins an ensemble cast for the second season of the popular series, which is set to continue exploring themes of conflict and power dynamics in a wealthy and exclusive setting.
