Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose alleged sexual misconduct sparked the #MeToo movement, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and is undergoing treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York. Weinstein recently had emergency heart surgery and tested positive for Covid-19 and pneumonia. Manhattan prosecutors are trying to combine new charges with his original 2020 sexual crimes. Weinstein’s conviction in New York was overturned this year, but he was convicted of rape in Los Angeles and sentenced to 16 years in prison. His legal team is appealing the Los Angeles conviction.
