Florida’s west coast to experience extremely dangerous storm surge within 36 hours

Florida is currently facing the threat of Tropical Storm Helene, which is predicted to become a hurricane by late tomorrow. The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning for the west coast of Florida, with a hurricane watch for a stretch of coastline further south. A storm surge warning is also in place for almost the entire west coast of Florida, including Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor. The storm surge could reach heights of 10 to 15 feet in some areas. Additionally, a tropical storm warning covers much of the east coast and Florida Keys. Residents are urged to complete preparations to protect life and property as soon as possible. In Mexico, Cancun is also on alert for Helene’s approach to the Caribbean coast. NBC News meteorologist Angie Lassman forecasts that Helene could potentially reach Category 3 hurricane status as it heads towards Florida. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the storm.
