Comedian Brittany Furlan and rocker Tommy Lee’s dog, Neena, was saved from a coyote attack near their Los Angeles home thanks to its extra weight. Furlan managed to rescue Neena from the coyote’s mouth by climbing a wall and grabbing her. The incident was caught on the couple’s Ring surveillance camera and posted on Instagram. Furlan expressed shock at the animal encounter, emphasizing the importance of pet safety in Southern California. Coyotes are common in the area, typically weighing between 10 to 35 pounds. It is recommended to not leave small pets unsupervised outside and to bring them indoors at night to prevent coyote attacks. Items like trash and pet food can attract coyotes as well. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife estimates the population of coyotes in the state to be between 250,000 to 750,000. The state agency notes that coyotes have adapted to living alongside humans in many communities. Furlan’s quick actions saved Neena from harm, highlighting the need for vigilance when it comes to pet safety in areas where coyotes are present.
