Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has been urging allies to allow Ukraine to use western weapons, such as US Atacms and British Storm Shadows, to strike deep inside Russia to limit Moscow’s attacks. During a recent interview, Zelenskyy warned that denying permission for these strikes would result in the loss of thousands of lives and schools. He expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized the importance of a diplomatic solution to end the conflict.
Zelenskyy is set to present his “victory plan” to US President Biden during his visit to the US this week. The plan includes a push for Ukraine to join NATO and seeks to end the conflict through diplomatic means. The plan also highlights the need for stronger defense measures to force Russia to stop the war. Zelenskyy will also be meeting with presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to discuss the plan.
Recent reports indicate that Russia has been using Chinese satellites to gather information on Ukrainian nuclear facilities, raising concerns of potential strikes against these sites. Zelenskyy referred to this as “nuclear terror” and emphasized the need for world leaders to influence Russia to prevent such attacks. The visit of Iranian President Pezeshkian to Russia next month for the BRICS summit further highlights the geopolitical dynamics at play in the region.
