A Michigan sheriff’s deputy bravely leapt into a moving car on a busy highway to rescue a 63-year-old driver suffering from a medical emergency. The incident, which occurred in Mount Clemens near Detroit, was captured on video and has since gone viral. Deputies Nicole Miron and Anthony Gross were dispatched after reports of an erratic driver in the area. Despite the driver not responding to them, Miron realized something was wrong when she saw the vehicle swerving and hitting the curb at a slow speed.
Concerned for the safety of other drivers, Miron and Gross attempted to break the window of the unresponsive driver’s car. When that didn’t work, Miron made a split-second decision to jump into the vehicle, put it in park, and call for medical assistance. The driver, who had regained consciousness, was taken to a hospital and has since recovered.
Miron, who acted quickly without hesitation, said she was willing to do whatever it took to stop the vehicle as they were running out of options. Both Miron and Gross have been surprised by the viral attention the incident has received, but they are grateful for the positive outcome. The heroic actions of these deputies serve as a reminder that not all heroes wear capes.
