The search continues for Joseph A. Couch, who is wanted in connection with a mass shooting on a Kentucky highway where five people were seriously injured. Couch has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and five counts of first-degree assault. Authorities have described him as armed and dangerous. The gunman opened fire from three different perches along a ridge overlooking Interstate 75, with an AR-15 believed to have been used in the shooting found near his vehicle. Couch had served in the National Guard and has a relatively clean record, with the only prior charges being a dismissed charge of making a terrorist threat and some traffic violations. The investigation into the shooting and a potential motive is ongoing, with deputies searching for Couch in the remote woods near the scene. Due to the ongoing search, Laurel County Public Schools have canceled classes as a precaution. Once Couch is in custody, he will face court processes and could potentially face additional charges related to property damage and endangerment of other drivers impacted by the shooting.
