At least 61 people have been killed in the last two days by Israeli attacks on Gaza as the 12-month war on the region continues without respite. The air raids resulted in more than a dozen deaths overnight, with three women and two children killed by shelling in central Gaza. A school sheltering displaced Palestinians was also targeted, leading to at least three deaths and 20 injuries. The Israeli military claimed they conducted a precise strike on a Hamas command center within the school compound.
The ongoing violence in Gaza has resulted in nearly 41,000 deaths, with the majority being women and children, according to the Health Ministry. Protests against Israeli actions in Gaza have been held globally, including in London, where demonstrators called for an end to arms exports to Israel. The United Nations has also called for a full investigation into the killing of American-Turkish activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was shot by Israeli forces while protesting against illegal settlements in the West Bank.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with continued airstrikes causing widespread casualties and destruction. Efforts to provide aid and vaccinations to the affected populations are ongoing, but the conflict shows no signs of abating. Calls for accountability for the deaths and injuries resulting from the Israeli attacks continue to be made by the international community.
