During a violent storm near Palermo, Italy, a luxury superyacht with 22 people on board sank, resulting in at least one death and six people missing. The sailboat, caught in a strong storm and tornado, sank suddenly due to the terrible weather conditions, City Council of Bagheria explained. Fifteen survivors, including a 1-year-old baby, were rescued by a ship captained by Karsten Borner. Four passengers were injured and taken to the hospital, but none were in serious condition. A search and rescue operation involving divers, motorboats, and helicopters was launched to locate the missing individuals. The yacht, named Bayesian, was built by Italian shipbuilder Perini in 2008 and could carry up to 12 guests and a crew of 10. It was available for charter for up to 195,000 euros per week. The boat had left Milazzo on Aug 14 and was last tracked east of Palermo on Sunday evening. Fabio La Bianca, who took a picture of the boat before the incident, expressed shock and sadness over the tragedy. The incident has sparked an outpouring of support and help from volunteers and organizations in the area. The search for the missing individuals continues as efforts are made to understand what led to the sinking of the luxury yacht.
