Debut Game for Utah Hockey Club Set for Oct. 8 against Chicago Blackhawks

[ad_1]
The NHL is set to make its debut in Salt Lake City as the Utah Hockey Club prepares to play its first regular-season game against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 8. The team, formerly based in Arizona, will take the ice at the Delta Center, home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, which is undergoing renovations to accommodate NHL games. With a capacity of 16,200 for the inaugural season, the demand for tickets has been high, with 30,000 season-ticket deposits already made. The team is expected to have a permanent name by the 2025-26 season. The Florida Panthers will also kick off their season by raising their first Stanley Cup banner in Sunrise, Florida, before facing the Boston Bruins on the same night. The NHL’s full 1,312-game regular-season schedule is expected to be released this week. President of hockey operations Chris Armstrong expressed excitement about playing the first game in Utah’s franchise history in front of the team’s fans, stating that the eyes of the hockey world will be on them when they take on the Blackhawks. The second day of the season will feature rivalry matchups such as the New York Rangers visiting Pittsburgh, Toronto at Montreal, and Colorado at Vegas, with the latter being a face-off between the 2022 and 2023 Cup champions.
