Brazil’s Vinicius Junior was the star of the show in their 4-1 victory over Paraguay in the Copa America. After a lacklustre performance in the first game of the tournament, Vinicius scored twice to help Brazil secure the win. Despite a missed penalty by Lucas Paqueta, Brazil dominated the game with goals from Savio and Vinicius. Paraguay managed to pull one back with a long-range strike from Omar Alderete, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.
With the win, Brazil sits in second place in Group D with four points, behind Colombia who has already qualified for the quarter-finals with six points. Costa Rica and Paraguay are lagging behind in third and fourth place respectively.
Brazil will face Colombia in their next match, where a draw will be enough for them to secure a spot in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Colombia continued their dominant run in the tournament with a 3-0 win over Costa Rica, extending their undefeated streak to 25 games. Jhon Cordoba was the star for Colombia, leading them to victory and solidifying their position as one of the title favorites in the Copa America.
The match was not without controversy, as tempers flared towards the end with a red card shown to Andres Cubas for kicking out at Douglas Luiz. Despite the setback, Brazil capitalized on the man advantage to comfortably see out the game and clinch the three points.
