USPS reviewing claim by Phoenix man that mailman injured his dog

[ad_1]
A Phoenix man is demanding answers after his seven-year-old Pomeranian, Chewbacca, was injured by his mail carrier in May. Curtis Yurcik was in his yard when he heard his dog yelping and found him bleeding from a gash above his eye. Yurcik says the mailman admitted to hitting Chewbacca on the head with an object.

After receiving treatment at a nearby animal hospital, Chewbacca is recovering, but Yurcik has yet to receive an apology from USPS. The postal service claims the incident occurred when the carrier reacted to an unleashed, unattended barking dog that approached unexpectedly from behind. USPS emphasizes that carriers are trained to protect themselves, as they are often at risk of being bitten by dogs. Last year, there were over 5,800 dog attack incidents involving Postal Service employees.

USPS urges dog owners to keep their pets inside, behind a fence, or on a leash to ensure the safety of mail carriers. The incident involving Chewbacca is currently under review, and USPS states they will work with the carrier to provide proper training.

Yurcik is frustrated by the lack of accountability and demands justice for his beloved pet. He hopes that USPS will take appropriate steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. As Chewbacca continues to heal, Yurcik is determined to seek justice for his furry companion.
