Four people were killed and nine others were injured after a minivan crashed into a nail salon in Long Island, New York. The incident occurred at Hawaii Nail & Spa in Deer Park shortly before 5 p.m. The van plowed through the front of the salon, almost reaching the back. All of those killed or injured were inside the salon at the time, with some individuals having to be extricated by emergency services. Witnesses reported that the van had been racing through a parking lot before crashing, with one witness stating that the vehicle was attempting to pass another car when it drove into the building.
The driver of the van was among the injured and was taken to a hospital. The cause of the crash is currently unknown. Photos from the scene show a large hole in the storefront, and witnesses described hearing a loud, shattering noise. Emergency services responded to the scene with about 150 firefighters and EMS personnel providing assistance. The incident is still under investigation.
