The Phoenix Suns have traded the No. 22 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to the Denver Nuggets for the 28th pick along with two future second-round picks. The Nuggets plan to select Arizona high school product DaRon Holmes II. As a result of past trades and financial limitations, the Suns were in need of draft capital and had to wait until draft day to make a move. Holmes, a local standout who attended Millennium High School before transferring to Montverde Academy, has been a highly-rated prospect and recently chose Dayton over other offers. In his final season, Holmes was named the 2024 Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, showcasing his impressive on-court performance. He led Dayton to a March Madness victory and joined Obi Toppin and Toumani Camara as the third active NBA player from Dayton. Both Toppin and Camara have sent their well wishes to Holmes, who was accompanied by former teammates on draft night in Lotte New York Palace. Holmes and Toppin are the only first-round picks from Dayton since 1980. Suns fans will now have to wait until Thursday to see who Phoenix selects with the 56th pick in the draft, as the second round takes place on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m.
